Rockford community helps support blind exchange student facing uncertain future

ROCKFORD, Mich. — An uncertain long term for a Rockford Large University senior has rallied his fellow students, and now the local community, close to him.

Shamurat, or Shon as his mates and family connect with him, is a 19-yr-aged international exchange student who is blind.

He graduates at the conclusion of the semester and will have to go back to Kyrgyzstan prior to possibly returning for college.

All of that is in jeopardy though, as he also has profound loss to his listening to, which is significant to do most capabilities for a person who is blind.

A operation would resolve it but that expenses a lot more than $20,000.

There is also a opportunity that if he does not have the tuition for school, he would not be equipped to arrive back again on a visa.

“In utter disbelief that this could even transpire, that he would have to go home and back again to his life just before,” claimed Isabelle Glover, a close good friend. “He would know all of the understanding that he is acquired below and every thing would be taken from him. No extra desktops, no much more cane, back to the aged daily life that he lived just before with quite tiny resources in any way to help him.”

Glover arranged a GoFundMe, and Shon’s tale is beginning to unfold. Click listed here for extra data and to donate!

Additional than $20,000 has been lifted in much less than two months, and they hope to satisfy the aim to bring Shon back again to West Michigan for college.
